The department of Student Life & Leadership at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo expects all fraternities and sororities to achieve a chapter grade point average that meets or exceeds the All Men’s/ All Women’s G.P.A or a 3.0. If a chapter does not meet this expectation it will be subject to the following accountability measures:
1st quarter will result in a written notice to the chapter and Headquarters office. Chapter will be required to develop a plan of action to address the chapter grade point average.
2nd consecutive quarter will result in a written notice to the chapter and headquarters office. Chapter will be placed on probation.
3rd consecutive quarter will result in a suspension of recognition and a university review of the chapter’s status.
Only fall, winter, and spring quarter will be considered eligible quarters for G.P.A. accountability measures; summer quarters will not be considered. An academic plan that is approved by the department of Student Life & Leadership and the chapter’s council will supersede the accountability measures in this policy so long as the chapter’s G.P.A. goals are met. Any time a chapter meets the All Men’s or All Women’s G.P.A. or an overall 3.0, any strikes towards the chapter’s academic standing will reset and a plan of action will no longer be required.
